A family house
For more than a century, our family has done one thing: look closely, and know what is real.
The house was founded in 1905. By 1928 it was trading diamonds in Antwerp; with the Second World War it came home, and it has been in Mumbai ever since. Four generations on, we work the same way: privately, by appointment, and on our word.

Hemchand Bros., Antwerp
In the 1920s a handful of Jain merchant families from Gujarat made a home in Antwerp, then the diamond capital of the world. Among them was Hemchandbhai Mohanlal Jhaveri of Patan, trading as Hemchand Bros.
Small stones bought in Antwerp went home to be cut and set by Indian craftsmen; polished goods came back. Deals were closed on a handshake. When the war came in 1939, the family returned to India.

How we work
The old way
On our word
Our trade was built on handshakes and reputation, long before contracts. We still keep it that way.
By eye
Every stone and every object is chosen by the family, looked at closely, and certified where it should be.
In private
No shop window. A quiet room in Mumbai, or a video call, and the time to sit with you.
Since 1905
Still a family
Four generations: Hemchandbhai Mohanlal; Nitin and Vasanti; Rohan; and Aman Hemchand.
